Brigade Action Plan Summary 2006 - 2007

The Chief Fire Officer of the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service has recently circulated the first draft Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) for the Service. The key aim of the IRMP is the reduction of risk within the community by the more efficient and effective use of all parts of the Fire and Rescue Service which in turn is continually evolving to meet the needs of the people it serves.

The corporate objectives of the IRMP fall into three categories and are prevention, protection and response and can be found in Section 8 (Our Aims and Objectives).

The methods of achieving the strategic aims of the IRMP are being supported by the production of an Annual Brigade Action Plan from the two key departments within our organisation, the Operations Department and the Fire Safety Department. Both departments work closely together within the Service and have jointly produced the enclosed action plan.

The Action Plan has been divided into the following sections for ease of use:

Operational Department – service delivery and operational efficiency.

Fire Safety Department – service delivery and operational efficiency.

The action plan clearly defines the following information:

• A prioritised numerical action point for both the service delivery and
operational efficiency elements of the plan.
• A description of the proposal.
• The reasons for making the proposal.
• The forecast benefits.
• The estimated costs.

The Annual Brigade Action Plan will be subject to implementation, monitoring, audit and review throughout the fiscal year. Each department will endeavour to carry out the priorities and reach its goals contained within the action plan which will support
the aims of the strategic plan.
