The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service are constantly exploring new ways to get the fire safety message across, and their latest venture takes the form of a fire safety trailer. The trailer was the brainchild of Danny Dooley and Steve Cretney from the Fire Service’s community safety team. Leading Firefighter Danny Dooley explained: ‘The idea of the trailer is to provide a simple fire safety message and make people think a little bit harder about what they would do in the event of a fire in their home.’ Douglas businesses have sponsored the trailer – it was supplied by the Milestone Garage, and is sponsored by Waterworks Plumbing and Heating Engineers, with Bobby Saddler’s of Douglas Head providing the running gear and Edwin Dennis Printers, of Demesne Road, supplying the artwork. Sub Officer Carl Kinvig, the Community Fire Safety Team Leader explained how the trailer would be used: ‘It will positioned around the Island at various locations, with the approval of the relevant authorities, to try and maximise the number of people who will see it. The messages will be changed throughout the year to encompass seasonal fire safety messages and to support the current Drive safe, Live Long campaign run by the fire service in conjunction with Zurich.’ If you would like any further advice on this trailer, or you would like to make a comment on this article email cs@gov.im
