The Drive Safe Live Long presentation has been developed for delivery to target audiences throughout the Island. Statistically young and newly qualified drivers between the ages of 16 and 24 become involved in collisions which unfortunately more often than not end in serious if not fatal injuries being sustained. As a result of these alarming statistics, a presentation which could be delivered to young drivers and their passengers was developed. A partnership between Zurich and the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service has enabled the implementation of such a program. Indeed staff from Zurich based on the Island did attend several sessions during 2005 and 2006 when the presentation was delivered. The presentation has been delivered to students attending the Islands Secondary Schools and Colleges and recently this has expanded to be included as part of the session attended by convicted drink drive offenders. The presentation centres around what happens during a road traffic collision and the effects that such an incident may have on individuals who are involved directly and indirectly. Images of injuries and video clips are included in the presentation to highlight the subject matter with encouragement for debate from the target audience.
