The Fire Safety Department has a group of specialist fire safety officers contained within its General Fire Safety Team who are responsible for the application and enforcement of the Fire Precautions Act 1975 and in particular the Fire Certification of designated premises which fall within the scope of the Act. 

The Team have a programmed inspection regime to ensure compliance with the conditions of the individual certificates and will offer advice, education and enforcement to achieve compliance. 

The Team also provide free expert fire safety advice to members of the community, Government Departments and private businesses to ensure that all premises and public events are safe in the event of a fire or emergency.
